Cupping

Cupping is part of Asian body work as well as traditional chinese medicine and is often used in combination with acupuncture. This therapeutic technique allows for a dramatic increase of blood flow to superficial and deep muscles, as well as to the skin. This allows for scar tissue, adhesions and tight muscles to loosen up. This is done by reducing the pressure in a glass or plastic cup so that the skin and superficial muscle layer are drawn into and held in the cup. These cups are applied to acupressure points as well as glided up and down the energetic channels (meridians).
